A mentor-led mixing ratio guide for SpektraLift™ covering standard color, gray coverage, lift + deposit, previously tinted hair, varied porosity, and lightener use with Regulated Oxidation Technology®.

SpektraLift™ was designed to support professional judgment, not replace it.

The following mixing ratios reflect best practices based on field testing, chemistry behavior, and the principles of Regulated Oxidation Technology®. These guidelines are not rules—they’re intelligent starting points designed to create consistent, predictable working conditions.

1. Standard Color Application (No Lift Priority)

Use when:

  • Refreshing color
  • Matching natural depth
  • Deposit-focused services

Mixing Ratio:

  • 1 part color
  • 1 part SpektraLift
  • 1 part developer (10–20 vol)

Why this works: This ratio stabilizes the alkaline environment and minimizes wasted pigment during processing, allowing dye intermediates to fully form without unnecessary escalation.

Benefits:

  • Clean, true tone
  • Improved deposit efficiency
  • Smooth, consistent hair feel

2. Standard Color Application with Gray Coverage

Use when:

  • 30–70% gray
  • Resistant gray
  • Desire for maximum deposit efficiency

Mixing Ratio:

  • 1 part color
  • 1 part SpektraLift
  • 1 part developer (20 vol recommended)

Why this works: SpektraLift supports penetration and completion of oxidative dye formation without relying on excessive alkalinity or force.

Benefits:

  • More complete gray coverage
  • Improved tone density
  • Reduced need to over-formulate

3. Lift + Deposit (Balanced Priority)

Use when:

  • One-step lift and tone
  • Previously lightened or partially colored hair
  • Desire for controlled lift without sacrificing tone

Mixing Ratio:

  • 1 part color
  • 1 part SpektraLift
  • 2 parts developer (20–30 vol)

Why this works: This ratio allows lift and deposit to occur simultaneously while minimizing competition between reactions.

Benefits:

  • Cleaner lift
  • Better tonal integrity
  • Reduced pigment loss during processing

4. Lift + Deposit (Maximum Lift Focus)

Use when:

  • Natural hair
  • Resistant hair
  • High-lift shades

Mixing Ratio:

  • 1 part color
  • 1 part SpektraLift
  • 2 parts developer (30–40 vol)

Processing:

  • Medium warm dryer recommended
  • 35 minutes

Why this works: The buffered environment and regulated oxidation behavior allow lift to proceed efficiently without rushing pigment formation.

Benefits:

  • Increased lift potential
  • More predictable warmth control
  • Hair that feels less stressed post-service

5. Lift + Deposit Through Previously Tinted Hair

Use when:

  • Previously colored hair
  • Desire to lift and re-tone in one service
  • Avoiding double processing

Mixing Ratio:

  • 1 part color
  • 1 part SpektraLift
  • 2 parts developer (30–40 vol)

Processing:

  • Medium warm dryer strongly recommended
  • Full 35 minutes

Why this works: Regulated Oxidation Technology® helps minimize non-effective pigment loss, allowing more chemistry to complete its work rather than being destroyed prematurely.

Benefits:

  • More efficient one-step services
  • Improved tonal accuracy
  • Reduced need for corrective sequencing

6. Color Application on Varied Porosity

Use when:

  • Uneven absorption
  • Porosity differences from scalp to ends
  • Inconsistent previous services

Mixing Ratio:

  • 1 part color
  • 1 part SpektraLift
  • 1–2 parts developer (based on desired lift)

Why this works: SpektraLift helps synchronize oxidation timing, reducing the tendency for porous areas to over-process while resistant areas lag behind.

Benefits:

  • More even results
  • Improved tonal balance
  • Reduced need for multiple formulas

7. Use with Lightener (Advanced Application)

Use when:

  • Controlled lightening is desired
  • Focus on efficiency and hair feel
  • Experienced professionals only

Mixing Ratio:

  • Follow manufacturer lightener instructions
  • Add SpektraLift at equal part to lightener
  • Developer per lightener guidelines

Processing:

  • Monitor visually
  • Heat optional based on hair type

Why this works: SpektraLift supports a more controlled alkaline environment, helping to reduce unnecessary chemical stress during oxidative lightening.

Benefits:

  • Smoother lightening behavior
  • Improved hair feel
  • More predictable processing

Important Notes

  • SpektraLift does not replace formulation knowledge
  • Do not escalate developer unnecessarily
  • Always allow full processing time
  • Heat should be medium and controlled, not aggressive

“When chemistry isn’t rushed, it rewards patience.”

SpektraLift™ is not about breaking rules—it’s about creating better conditions for chemistry to behave predictably.

Consistency comes from:

  • Understanding the goal
  • Choosing the correct ratio
  • Allowing the process to complete

SpektraLift™ supports professional judgment and does not guarantee outcomes. Results vary based on hair history, formulation, and application.
